WHO WE ARE
Our policy is to ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare at work of all our Employees and any other persons who may be affected by our operations. We will work with all stakeholders and adopt good practices to pursue our aim of continuous improvement; fully recognising the value that effective health and safety management contributes to our success. We are committed to achieving this through:
- Provision of sufficient resources for the management of health and safety.
- Managing risk by maintaining systems to identify, assess, monitor and control hazards and by reviewing performance.
- Providing employees with occupational health surveillance appropriate to the activities we undertake.
- Maintenance of open communication with all stakeholders on railway related issues where applicable
- Ensuring the safety and absence of risk to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of hazardous articles and substances.
- Bench marking our performance and adopting the best safety and health practices from other industries.
- Regularly reviewing our safety and health performance and always seeking better and safer ways of operating within the constraints of reasonable practicability.
- Conducting our operations with due regards to local, national and regional legislative requirements.
- Training all BBR Staff and Contractors on hazards and holding them accountable for performance within their areas of responsibility pertaining to health and safety.
- Communicating this policy to all BBR employees, contractors and visitors by displaying it in prominent places and making it available to other stakeholders upon request.
- Ensuring periodic audits of the effectiveness of management structures and risk control for health and safety are carried out, and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken.
