General Manager
Raymond is the General Manager of Beitbridge Bulawayo Railway (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Grindrod Limited. He has more than 23 years in Finance and general management experience gleaned from Rail Logistics, Manufacturing, Telecommunication, Agriculture and Consultancy industries.
A holder of a Master’s degree in business administration with the University of Suffolk, Raymond currently serves on the Boards of BBR (Pvt) Ltd and Southern African Railways Association.
Trained in Accounting and Finance at Institutions such as KPMG and Ernst and Young Chartered Accountants, Raymond has applied this knowledge in the various capacities he has held. Sixteen years of his working experience has been with BBR starting from being Finance Manager, promoted to Finance Executive which culminated in his appointment as General Manager in July 2022.
A notable success was his participation in the handover of the New Limpopo Bridge to the Government of Zimbabwe at the end of its Concession in 2014.

Appointed Operations Manager in 2023. Bakhile joined BBR in January 2007 after serving in the Ministry of Education for 10 years. He joined as a trainee train driver and rose through the ranks to the current position. After training, he worked as a train driver for six years before he was appointed Station Manager for Beitbridge and Colleen Bawn Stations in October 2016. He served in that capacity before being appointed Chief Controller in July 2021. Bakhile was thereafter promoted to the position of Operations Manager in 2023. The position involves providing strategic direction and leadership in the following departments – Operations, Technical (locomotives), Technical (rolling stock) and Infrastructure. His other involvement at BBR include being appointed as the first Risk Champion for BBR in 2019, Compliance Officer for BBR Pension Fund Board in 2022, Management Representative at BBR Works Council in 2022, member of BBR EXCO, member of Southern African Railways Association EXCO.

Thembani joined BBR on 7 January 2007 from university and worked in various divisions in his 16 years of Railway experience. He was interchange Coordinator 2007-2009,Fuel coordinator 2009 to 2011, Information Systems Administrator 2011 to 2015 were he led a team that implemented the BBR OS (ACCPAC) for monitoring Operations, fuel, inventory ,Revenue and technical activities, Interchange Manager 2015 to 2019, Interchange and Commercial Manager 2019 to 2022 and Commercial and Marketing Manager from 2022 were his role includes conceiving and developing efficient marketing strategies, supervising existing contracts with clients, delivering customer solutions, facilitating and monitoring strategic inter railway synergies and overseeing inventory management. He is also a member of the BBR Board of Trustees for the BBR Pension Fund from 2015 to current, BBR EXCO team and North South Corridor Management Committee under SARA.
